Thailand Sees New Trade and Investment Opportunities From Belt and Road Summit

Thailand’s participation in the 11th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong has opened new opportunities for Thai businesses to expand trade, attract investment and strengthen connections with international markets.

The summit brought together government representatives, investors and business leaders from across Asia and other regions, providing a platform for discussions on investment, infrastructure, technology and cross-border economic cooperation.

Thailand used the event to highlight its position as a regional economic hub and a gateway to Southeast Asian markets. Thai officials and business representatives presented opportunities in sectors where the country is seeking additional investment and international partnerships.

The discussions covered areas including infrastructure, logistics, digital technology, energy and manufacturing. These sectors are viewed as important to Thailand’s efforts to strengthen supply chains and improve its competitiveness within the region.

Thai businesses also had opportunities to meet potential investors and commercial partners through business-matching activities held alongside the summit. Such meetings are intended to develop partnerships that could lead to new investment projects and expanded trade.

The Belt and Road framework has created extensive infrastructure and economic links across Asia, Europe and other regions. Thailand has sought to benefit from these connections while strengthening its role in regional supply chains.

Hong Kong’s position as an international financial and commercial centre also provided Thai companies with access to investors and financial institutions that could support expansion into overseas markets.

Thailand has increasingly focused on attracting investment in advanced industries and improving connectivity with neighbouring countries. The government has highlighted digital infrastructure, clean energy, advanced manufacturing and logistics as areas with potential for future growth.

The summit also comes as businesses reassess supply chains amid geopolitical tensions, changing trade policies and technological developments. Thai officials have said the country can benefit by positioning itself as a reliable base for companies seeking access to the wider ASEAN market.

For Thai companies, the meetings provided an opportunity to explore markets beyond traditional trading partners and establish relationships with investors from China, Hong Kong and other economies.

The government is also seeking to translate international business discussions into concrete projects through cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Thailand’s participation in the summit therefore forms part of a broader effort to diversify trade and investment links, strengthen regional connectivity and position the country as a platform for businesses seeking opportunities across Southeast Asia.
