Rosewood Hong Kong has retained the title of the world’s best hotel for a second consecutive year, taking the top position in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking.
The result was announced at an awards ceremony in Paris on Sept 15, marking the fourth edition of the global hotel ranking and the first time the ceremony has been held outside London.
The 65-storey hotel overlooking Victoria Harbour previously claimed the No. 1 position in 2025 after ranking third in 2024. Its latest win also gives Rosewood Hong Kong the title of Best Hotel in Asia for a second straight year.
Opened in 2019, the property was designed by Hong Kong-based designer Tony Chi and has 413 rooms and suites spread across 43 floors.
The hotel also features 11 restaurants and bars, including the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant The Legacy House and the Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Chaat. Its wellness facilities include the Asaya spa, an infinity pool and private treatment lodges.
Hotel management said the latest recognition has helped raise the property’s international profile and contributed to renewed attention on Hong Kong as a luxury travel destination.
The top five of the 2026 ranking was dominated by properties in Asia and the Middle East. Capella Bangkok placed second, followed by Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River in third. Atlantis The Royal in Dubai ranked fourth, while Passalacqua on Lake Como took fifth.
Bangkok had a particularly strong showing, with Capella Bangkok, Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River and Mandarin Oriental Bangkok all making the top 10. Aman Nai Lert also entered the list at No. 48.
Hong Kong had two other hotels in the top 50. Upper House Hong Kong ranked eighth, while The Peninsula Hong Kong placed 46th.
Asia accounted for 18 hotels in the top 50, while Europe had the largest regional representation with 21 properties. The list included hotels across 22 destinations on six continents.
The rankings are determined by The 50 Best Hotels Academy, which consists of more than 800 anonymous hospitality experts, travel journalists, educators and experienced travellers. Members vote based on hotels they have stayed at during the three-year voting period, with Deloitte serving as the independent adjudicator.
Rosewood Hong Kong’s back-to-back victory makes it the first hotel to hold the No. 1 position for two consecutive years since the ranking was launched in 2023.
The latest recognition further strengthens the hotel’s position among the world’s most prominent luxury properties and highlights the continued presence of Asian hotels at the top of the global hospitality industry.
